Kenya to Host 2024 Transform Africa Summit
Kenya has secured the honor of hosting the 2024 Transform Africa Summit (TAS), organized by the Smart Africa Alliance. Scheduled from August 28-30, this summit is set to become a key event in Africa’s technology landscape.
The Transform Africa Summit is an annual gathering convened by the Smart Africa Alliance, bringing together over 5,000 delegates. It serves as a platform for collaboration and innovation to drive Africa’s digital revolution.
This marks the first time Kenya will host the event in the Smart Africa Alliance’s 10-year history. It reflects the alliance’s confidence in Kenya’s leadership in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its commitment to using technology for socio-economic development.
Eliud Owalo, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, emphasized Kenya’s role as an ICT powerhouse and champion of regional ICT initiatives.
The announcement was made by Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), at the GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC-24) in Barcelona, Spain.
David Mugonyi, Director General of the Communications Authority, highlighted the importance of hosting regional peers to share experiences and best practices in leveraging ICTs for economic development.
